Donations for the restoration of manuscripts and printed books in the Casanatense Library
The Casanatense is in need of financial support for the restoration of numerous precious, ancient and badly damaged volumes. These include medieval and modern manuscripts, incunabula, ancient and rare printed books from the Monumental Hall and other library collections. You too can contribute to the restoration of library volumes through an Art Bonus donation. Art Bonus In 2014 the Art Bonus was introduced, i.e. a tax credit for those who make liberal cash donations in support of culture and entertainment. It is an important tool to promote and support patronage of publicly owned cultural heritage. Those who make liberal cash donations in support of culture, as provided for by the law, will be able to enjoy important tax breaks and benefits in the form of a tax credit (to be divided into 3 annual instalments of the same amount).
In fact, the Art Bonus donor has a tax credit equal to 65% of the amount donated. This means that he will be able to recover a large part of the donated money, as his taxes will be reduced by an amount equal to 65% of his donation.
Donors eligible for the Art Bonus:
1) Individuals
2) Businesses
3) Non-commercial entities (Third Sector entities, associations, foundations, social enterprises not established as corporations or cooperatives. Es. Fondazioni bancarie)
Modalities for availing of the Art Bonus:
1) Individuals and entities not carrying out a business activity benefit from the Art Bonus in their income tax return.
2) Holders of business income benefit from the Art Bonus in compensation.
Method of payment of the donation amount:
Donations can be paid in the following ways: 1) by bank (e.g. by bank transfer);
2) by post office (e.g. by bank transfer, payment into a current account in the name of the beneficiary);
3) by the other payment systems provided for by Article 23 of Legislative Decree 241/97, i.e. by debit, credit and prepaid cards, bank cheques and bank drafts.

it is important that the payment of the donation is accompanied by the precise indication of the reason for payment, for example by writing “Restoration of the Library Lot n. …”. The number of the Lot that includes the volumes to be restored, which varies from year to year, should be put instead of the dots. In addition, there may be more than one lot in the same year and therefore different numbers. Therefore, before making the donation, it is necessary to contact the Head of the Conservation and Restoration Office of the Casanatense, who will give advice and information on the choice of the book Lot to be restored, providing the number that identifies that Lot and which must be included in the reason for payment.
