BIBLIOTHERAPY: SCIENTIFIC AND PEDAGOGICAL ASPECTS – OFFICIAL EVENT OF ROME FUTURE WEEK

Tuesday, 16 September, 4 p.m. Rosa Mininno, Psychotherapist, President of the Italian School of Bibliotherapy, Books, Reading and the Arts, Full Member of the Accademia Tiberina, Honorary Consultant to the UN Women’s Chair, and Maria Greco, Professor of Literature, former School Representative for the MiC Book and Reading Centre, Representative of the Bibliotherapy at School Research Project, University of Chieti-Pescara ‘G. d’Annunzio’, organisers and speakers at the event, will present the various applications of bibliotherapy, selected and guided reading integrated into therapeutic, educational and professional training processes, with references to international research in the health and education fields. Applied Bibliotherapy aims to achieve therapeutic, pedagogical and training objectives. The scientific-pedagogical approach and the development of academic research allow us to clarify the different definitions of Applied Bibliotherapy in different contexts and to understand its effectiveness and transformative value on the psyche, for its health, the areas of the brain involved in reading, language, emotions, the development of critical and communication skills, empathetic behaviour and the development of social skills in individuals and groups, generating virtuous circles in the social context that involve not only the book supply chain but the entire community. Applied Bibliotherapy aims to achieve therapeutic, pedagogical and training objectives. The scientific-pedagogical approach and the development of academic research allow us to clarify the different definitions of Applied Bibliotherapy in different contexts and to understand its effectiveness and transformative value on the psyche, for its health, the areas of the brain involved in reading, language, emotions, the development of critical and communication skills, empathetic behaviour and the development of social skills in individuals and groups, generating virtuous circles in the social context that involve not only the book supply chain but the entire community.

The event will be opened with institutional greetings from the Director of the historic Casanatense Library, the venue hosting the event, Dr Cristiana Aresti. Participation in the event is free of charge, but limited to a maximum of 100 participants.
